About Me

I'm an experienced IT professional with a background in software development, DevOps, system administration, and technical support, now transitioning into cybersecurity. I recently completed a Master of Science in Computer Science with a concentration in cybersecurity, including hands-on experience building deep learning models for malware detection. I'm looking to leverage many years of IT expertise in support of a cybersecurity-focused role.

My career has spanned roles at Delinea, Oracle, Hyperion Solutions, and Canberra Industries — giving me a broad foundation across enterprise infrastructure, automation, and software development.

Outside of tech, I'm a proud husband and father of three, with two Vizslas and a rescue pitbull mix rounding out the household.

Principal Advanced Support Engineer

Applied advanced troubleshooting and debugging expertise across Delinea's DevOps Secrets Vault, Account Lifecycle Manager, and Identity Threat Protection products, managing escalated issues with full ownership from diagnosis to resolution to ensure customer success.
Served as an Embedded Support Engineer for Identity Threat Protection, collaborating closely with the development team to provide customer-centric insights on critical issues, driving product improvements and enhancing customer outcomes.
Active member of an internal AI innovation workgroup dedicated to identifying and implementing AI-driven solutions to enhance support team efficiency and customer experience.
Acted as a Knowledge-Centered Service (KCS) coach, mentoring support engineers in applying KCS methodology to improve knowledge sharing, case resolution efficiency, and customer self-service.
Proactively worked with Delinea's customers to ensure their successful deployment of Delinea's DevOps Secrets Vault and its related open-source tools.
Led onboarding and technical training for new support engineers on Delinea's DevOps Secrets Vault and Account Lifecycle Manager, while authoring public tutorials and knowledge base articles that improved product adoption and reduced support case volume.
Partnered with Sales Engineers to provide technical expertise in configuring and maintaining integrations with DevOps Secrets Vault and Account Lifecycle Manager, enabling seamless proof-of-concept demos that supported sales initiatives.

Migrated 1,200 internally hosted EPM Cloud demo environments to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) using Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, custom Ansible playbooks, and GitLab to manage the source code.
Migrated Bash scripts used for EPM lifecycle management to Ansible playbooks, reducing number of scripts by 60% and improving EPM Cloud demo environment management.
Implemented linting, unit testing, and coding standard adherence for all scripts and Ansible playbooks used in OCI, improving code quality and reducing errors.
Created tools using Python and Bash, utilizing EPM Automate and EPM REST APIs that cut sales consultants' demo prep work by 50%, including tools to load custom demo content, refresh demo environments to a clean state, and restart services.
Created Ansible playbooks used by Oracle's demo operations team to manage EPM demo environments in OCI, including tasks to start/stop services, upgrade demo environments, perform maintenance, and run diagnostic health checks.
Created custom Python scripts to install and maintain monthly upgrades for the EPM Chatbot, configuring Oracle's Mobile Hub and Digital Assistant, deployed and maintained via a GitLab CI/CD pipeline.

Senior Software Engineer

Managed the build infrastructure used by the demo build teams, including nightly backup procedures for all build work, custom Bash scripts to manage VMs on a VMware ESX server, and created an ASP.NET application to track build issues and submit work requests.
Created custom applications and scripts with PowerShell, VBScript, and Windows Script Host to be used by sales consultants, helping showcase Hyperion demo environments and support software sales.
Worked with a third-party hosting company to move the local demo environment to a hosted model, including migrating demo VMs to their platform, optimizing VM performance within the hosted environment, and helping develop a library of demos for sales consultants.

Mar 2000 – Dec 2004 Canberra Industries

Software Engineer

Developed and tested a custom application to determine the quality of Helium 3 detectors, written in Visual Basic 6, providing a rich GUI interface for data acquisition, quality assurance, and custom reporting.
Developed, modified, and tested a custom Inline Monitoring System consisting of data acquisition/setup, reporting, and various utilities, implementing custom algorithms for calibration and sample assay.
Maintained and enhanced Canberra's flagship Genie 2000 Gamma Ray Spectroscopy Software, utilizing C and C++ to ensure stability, performance, and feature continuity.
